Youth Services
Director - Don Angel

In spring of 2010 Rotary International added a fifth avenue of service, Youth Services. The Avenue of Youth Services recognizes the positive change implemented by youth and young adults involved in leadership development activities, community and service projects, and exchange programs that enrich and foster world peace and cultural understanding.

The McMurray Rotary has been a long time sponsor of RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards) annually sending two Peters Township High School students to the District 7330 RYLA Conference, and we annually send students to the World Affairs Council.  We have participated for many years in the Rotary Youth Exchange which brings high school students from around the world into our country and sends US kids to other countries to live with host families for a year. We also award $3,000 and $2,500 scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors, which are awarded to them after successful completion of their freshman year of college.

During the 2010-11 school year, we chartered an Interact Club (Rotary at the high school level) within the Peters Township High School.  The Club has an active membership which has already run many successful projects; one of which was collecting prom dresses for donation to students in local disadvantaged communities.
